July 1-31st - Sign-ups!
August 7st - Author check-in #1 via e-mail. Required: a story outline and/or >1k words
August 18th - Authors submit their fic’s omega details via Google form
August 25th - all authors’ fic details (but nothing of the author’s identity) will be released publicly on dreamwidth for fanworkers to peruse in anticipation of claiming their top 5 on August 29th.
August 29th - Claims! 12PM Central Time. Claims will last as long as it takes to get every author a fanworker. As soon as all fics have been claimed, the thread will be locked and Zombie Bang will email contact details to paired authors and fanworkers within the week.
September 5th - Author check-in #2. Required: fanworkers have seen their author's fics. Authors have a beta. Stories are >60% finished.
September 19th - October posting schedule will be announced!
September 26th - Final check-in! Authors send in their completed story & fanworkers' almost-completed paired fanwork.
October 8th - Posting begins! 😱🧟♀️🧟🥳️

Authors and artists can begin posting on October 1st! Authors have a maximum of 4 chapters of their story that they can submit throughout the month if they want (if they'd rather submit their story all at once, or over 2 or 3 chapters that is excellent as well). Authors and fanworkers, please coordinate on when and where to post if you need to.
If you are posting to AO3, the collection name is TheZombieBang2020, link. If you would like to post to AO3 but you don't have an AO3 account, please email thezombiebang@gmail.com and we'll see about getting you an invite.
The hard deadline will be Halloween, October 31st. The Zombie Bang 2020's Master Post of Fic and Art will be posted on its dreamwidth and tumblr accounts by November 7th.
Please don't hesitate to ask any questions you have in the comments section of this post - anon comments are enabled.

*The last email sent out looping authors and their paired fanworker was sent out August 23rd, so by now authors and fanworkers should be in contact via email. If no contact has been made yet, authors should email their fanworker by tomorrow or be prepared not to receive fanwork(s) for their story at worst.
Authors, it is September! We are moaning and shambling to the finish line! Please check in today and send ~80% of your fic to thezombiebang@gmail.com. It is highly recommended you CC your fic to your fanworker.
Something to look forward to: after careful consideration, The Zombie Bang has decided to scratch assigned dates for fan authors and paired fanworkers to post in October and instead allow submitting one's fics and paired works in maximum four chapter installments throughout October with the hard deadline of October 31st. If everyone has been keeping to the Zombie Bang's schedule (currently at or near 80% completion of their fic), or now has a month's notice with this post that this is an available option, then every author has the same relaxed schedule to finish their fic and the same opportunity to plan their four allotted chapter installments for October with their fanworker. This change requires extra communication between author and fanworker, so if you haven't yet contacted them yet, you must!
Standby for further details on posting (it warrants a separate post + email).
Last but not least, the next deadline will be September 21st (Monday), final check-in. Authors will need to send in their completed story & fanworkers their almost-completed paired fanwork.

The Zombie Bang's Detailed Schedule

June 14th (Sunday) - author check-in. Please reply with a story outline and/or >1k words
July 19th (Sunday) - authors will be emailed a link to a google docs form to fill out their fic’s omega details such as fandom, title, rating, ship, summary, anticipated word count, preferred fanwork medium if you have one, etc.
August 2nd (Sunday) - email check-in: this is the deadline for authors to submit their fic’s omega details. Also authors please reply with at least 50% of your fic completed. Please also mention if you haven’t found a beta yet (Zombie Bang will try to help ya).
August 12th (Wednesday) - all authors’ fic details (but nothing of the author’s identity) will be released publicly on dreamwidth for fanworkers to peruse in anticipation of claiming their top 5 on August 16th.
August 16th (Sunday) - Claims begin! The comments section of the aforementioned post will be unlocked and anon-enabled at 12PM Central Time. Fanworkers will be matched to fics on a first-come, first-serve basis. Fanworkers must be sure to follow the described format for submitting their comment claiming their top 5 fics.
Claims will last as long as it takes to get every author a fanworker. As soon as all fics have been claimed, the thread will be locked and Zombie Bang will email contact details to paired authors and fanworkers within the week.
